Rhyme God — word list
The pronunciation list the app searches, and the dictionary behind its meaning card, shared under the licences of the works they are built from.
Files
- lexicon.tsv — some 87,000 words and how they are pronounced, as shipped in Rhyme God 1.2.1. Licensed CC BY-SA 4.0.
- glossary.tsv — meanings, synonyms and antonyms for those words, cut down from WordNet 3.1. WordNet licence.
- NOTICE.txt — what each file is made from, what was changed, and the licences in full. Keep it with the files.
Made from
The CMU Pronouncing Dictionary (Carnegie Mellon University, BSD-style licence); FrequencyWords by Hermit Dave (CC BY-SA 4.0), counted from OpenSubtitles via OPUS; pronunciations from English Wiktionary and its contributors (CC BY-SA 4.0), gathered with WikiPron; WordNet 3.1 (Princeton University); and a short hand-written list of newer words and sung stresses (© 2026 Selfish Pursuits, CC BY-SA 4.0).
What was changed
Words were ranked by frequency and the rare ones dropped; names and modern coinages were tagged; slurs were removed. Wiktionary's pronunciations were converted from IPA to the CMU dictionary's ARPAbet, with stress worked out from the vowels. WordNet was cut to these words, four meanings a word, and only synonyms the app can rhyme.
